Is Eurorail the best Option in Europe?

I know most european countries are not far apart. Is Train the best means of transportaion to travel between european countries? I have couple friends that travelled between european countries using Eurorail. Eurorail is just like a train pass.

Travelling by rail in Europe is a joy and the eurail pass is great bargain with careful planning. Bear in mind that the Eurailpass does not cover the UK.

Has anyone got any experiences to share on the Euro rail? What are the costs like?

I travelled on the Eurail while I was at school and I remember getting a student's concession on the pass. We travelled for 3 weeks covering many countries, and I must say that we found it to be the most convenient and cheap way to travel. Infact we sometimes took overnight trains to save up on our hotel bills.
