Yeah India has an abundance of spirituality just like most of Asia. However, the Golden temple isn't about sprituality, its just another holy place. If you are looking for essential sprituality, you should take a tour of all the buddhist places in India. They are awesome and even today you'll see the buddhist culture prevailing in those areas. If you want hard core spirituality, then like most foreigners, head to Rishikesh, which offers scenic beauty, white water rafting and sprituality, all rolled into one.

yeah, India is a diverse country which is tied with all sorts of religeons. there are many places one can visit in India for spiritual enlightment. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is a great place to visit. It is a Gurudwara for the Sikh community. Other than that, all the way to the South is in Bhubaneshwar. It is known as the Sun Temple. In the east, in Kolkata there is the Daksineshwar temple. and also in Guwahati, there is the Maa Kamakhya temple. In the extreme north, in Jammu, there is the Vaishnav Devi temple which is very famous for its long trek uphill to reach the temple. no vehicles are allowed there so its either walking or a horse ride up. In all the major metropolitan cities, ISKON temples are there as well. These were just some of the areas that might interest people. There are many more.
