Sierra Leone is again safe for tourists. Deep in the maze of waterways , woodlands and farm plots of southern Sierra Leone, is the Tiwai Island Wildlife Sanctuary, sheltering an extraordinarily rich fauna.

You got that right. It is now safe for tourist though I won't advise anyone to travel to the provinces. It is not 100% safe out there. The city Freetown is safe to be. You can see some of the beautiful beaches like Lumley beach, Number 2 river, and more.

The country is basically safe with pockets of unrest here and there; the best is to be careful and avoid these problematic area. This country is so beautiful yet ravaged by so much violence and it si a real pity.

My sister has recently moved to Sierra Leon for a couple of years and its an amazingly beautiful country. They have a huge mansion, right on the beachfront which is completely natural and untouched. However there are too many problems. They have lights only in the evening and the water is available once in two days! Its really tough for them, the only reason that keeps them there, is that the kids are having a blast and are growing up in a absolutely pollution free environment. She also says that the locals are really friendly and its pretty safe to move around.
